Staff Spotlight: Laura Biddiscombe

Posted by Lindsey
2nd March, 2023

For our next staff spotlight, we talk to Laura. Laura has been a vital part of team Sarsen for 15 years! She certainly knows a thing or two.

10 years ago, what did you think you would be doing now?

10 years ago, I had already been at Sarsen for half a decade, and was building secret but optimistic plans to establish myself as a key member of the leadership team in the future. I think I can now say I’m well on my way to achieving that mission!

What quote do you live your life by?

“Teamwork Makes the Dream Work”. I say it a lot.

What's the one thing you couldn't live without?
Coffee. It’s like magic potion for grownups. And C7. If you know, you know.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Watching films, pottering in the garden and listening to music. Definitely need to get some live music in the diary, it’s been a while since I went to a gig.

What are you reading/watching/listening to at the moment?
I'm reading The Storyteller, Dave Grohl’s autobiography. I love the Foos; the euphoria you feel at their concerts is like nothing else. Last year was a tough year for the band so I’m interested to see what happens next.

We’re currently rewatching Justified, a TV series about a US Marshal in Kentucky. The writing is sublime. Album of the moment is the new Paramore record – This Is Why. I’ve been a fan for a very long time.

What's your previous working experience?

I’ve been at Sarsen for 15 years. My first role here was obsolete component sourcing. Previous jobs included new car sales admin at a well-known car company, but when I left school I actually trained to be a hairdresser. Variety is the spice of life…

What's your favourite thing about life at Sarsen?

After 15 years you’d think there would be an obvious answer but it’s not one big thing, its lots of little things. It’s a supportive and fun place to work. Cake Tuesdays are a particular highlight, and the input we have into to some of the coolest projects in the industry takes some beating. I always remember selling my first ‘space parts’. I was so excited. That feeling hasn’t gone away.

What are you excited about during the next year at Sarsen?

We worked really hard in 2022 to create stability and longevity within our pipeline. We found new technologies and customers to work with on some truly ground-breaking projects, so in 2023 I’m excited to build on this hard work, introduce some more cutting edge products to the UK market and showcase Sarsen to a wider network. Watch this space!
